Description | Series of annual rentals of London estate divided into the Southampton Buildings Estate, with other properties in Holborn and Chancery Lane, the Old Collection Estate (sold in 1792, except for Spitalfields), including properties in Sugarloaf Court, Spitalfields and Lamb Street, and the Whitefriars Estate, including properties in Silver Street, Lombard Street, Dung Wharf, The Wharf, Temple Lane, Essex Street, Great Ashentree Court, Water Lane, Temple Mews and Fleet Street; most of this latter estate was knocked down in 1792 to make way for a new street, Bouverie Street, and from then the estate consisted of Bouverie Street, Silver Street, Lombard Street, The Wharf, Temple Lane and Water Lane - there is a memorandum of agreement about the renting of 40 foot of frontage on east side of Bouverie Street by William Turner, coachmaker, in 1800 bundle, and in the same bundle a printed auctioneer's catalogue of freehold ground rents from 1791; tenants listed and some contain expense accounts with vouchers for maintenance work and payment of taxes. |
