Descriptionfor the pictures numbered 1-42 in the catalogue of the Radnor collection at Longford Castle and Brook Street prepared by Helen Matilda, Countess of Radnor (1846-1949) with assistance from the music scholar and critic, William Barclay Squire (1855-1927) and later editing by Jacob, 6th Earl of Radnor (1868-1930); correspondence in date order (undated letters at the back) with various curators and art historians, including George Scharf, Richard Rivington Holmes, Max Rooses, Lionel Cust and Roger Fry; some of the research on specific paintings is bundled together (e.g. van Dyck's Marie de Medici), but otherwise the notes are in haphazard order; also two lists of extracts from old account books covering the years 1723-1826: one concerning the purchase of pictures and the other concerning furnishings, crockery, cutlery and other household matters
