Descriptioncopies of the catalogue of the paintings and miniatures in the Earl of Radnor's collection compiled initially by Helen Matilda, Countess of Radnor (1846-1929) with assistance from the music scholar and critic, William Barclay Squire (1855-1927), and revised for the 1928 5th edition by her son Jacob, 6th Earl of Radnor (1868-1930). The 1st edition of 1890 has very little commentary, the 2nd of 1898 includes an introduction on the history of Longford Castle with plans, the 3rd of 1910 has a more extended commentary on some of the pictures, changes the numbering system and lists those at the London house of 12 Upper Brook Street for the first time; the 4th edition of 1916 is much the same, as is the 5th; also included is a list of all the fine arts paintings with their old and new numbers and a typescript preface by the 6th Earl giving details of earlier catalogues.
