Description for brick and stone work at Longford castle. One column of figures record the measurement of stone in cubic feet, which enables the volume of stone used which can then be costed; the other the running length of stone used (the lenght of bed, the horizontal joint on which the stone lies), and from which the cost of labour can be assessed to calcluate the masons' pay.
