Administrative HistoryBrakspear's involvement at Battle Abbey began in 1928 when he was asked for guidance on the maintenance of the ruined parts. Brakspear was keen to excavate, as well as to conserve the standing ruins. All the repairs and alterations done at Battle seems to have been done by Rudmans of Chippenham and the archaeological work done under the supervision of Jones (one of Rudman's foremen). Many of the drawings in this archive are clearly drawn by Jones at Battle and sent to Brakspear.
