Description1. 28 Feb 1895 Letter from Charles Henry Talbot, Chairman of the Parish Council, requesting a burial ground in the parish of Lacock, exclusive of Bowden Hill by resolution of the Parish Council. Enclosed is an acknowledgement of receipt from the Home Office, dated 1 Mar 1895.
2. 5 Mar 1895 Letter from Whitehall acknowledging receipt of letter from the Secretary of State.
3. 6 Mar 1895 Letter from Charles asking if they can start straight away, without official approval, as the burial ground is nearly full. Enclosed is an acknowledgement of letter from Home Office, dated 7 Mar.
4. 12 Mar 1895 Letter giving permission to start enclosing booklet on Appointment of Burial boards.
5. 17 Jun 1897 Letter from Charles stating that the matter had not been as pressing as necessary so had been delay until now when the Parish council wanted to proceed. Gives details of land, reason for, cost, right of ways etc. Enclosed is an acknowledgement of letter from Home Office.
6. 14 Jul 1897 Letter from the Secretary of State stating he should proceed without approval as inspectors too busy to come. Enclosed is a booklet of Proceedings under the Burial Act, emphasising needs consecrated and unconsecrated land.
7. 15 Jul 1897 Letter from Charles asking for answer to his letter in 5, enclosed is acknowledgement of letter from the Home Office, dated 16 Jul.
8. 22 Jul 1897 Letter from the Secretary of State Department, saying there is no reason the burial ground could not be used by non conformists as well. Need to send plan of the Ground.
9. 19 Aug 1897 Letter from Charles Henry Talbot asking if transfer of existing consecrated ground and the addition of unconsecrated ground would be lawfully satisfied. Enclosed is an acknowledgement of letter by Home Office.
10. 26 Aug 1897 Letter from secretary of State requesting a copy of the plan for the burial ground before giving consent, although does not think there will be a problem.
11. 6 May 1898 Letter from the Home Office acknowledging letter of 5 May and enclosure.
12. 5 May 1898 Letter from Charles Henry Talbot enclosing a plan of the burial ground, on which is written permission of approval. Also letter from Secretary of State giving approval, dated 13 May.
