TitleLetters to Charles Henry Talbot.
Description1. 14 Nov from H Snowden Ward of the Photogram to say they already have a copy of Tissandier's handbook, in response to Charles' offer to lend one. They are currently busily engaged in deciding what examples and illustrations they will use and will write again later. They thank him for the copy of his father's paper and for his biography which they will return in due course.
2. 20 Nov from H Snowden Ward thanking him for his lengthy criticism of Werge's allegations which they will find valuable when they come to a detailed account of William Henry Fox Talbot's. In regard to Talbot V Laroche they would like reference to journals or newspapers giving reports of the proceedings as they would be interested in evidence given in this trial. Also a note by Charles Henry Talbot referring to Reverend J B Reade who was an experimentalist in photography and married an aunt of Lady Awdry, a sister of Mrs Carr.
3. 28 Nov from H Snowden Ward thanking him for the history of Lacock Church which he sent to them: they are finding very useful. They have been in touch with Mr Brooker of Margaret Street and he says that the blocks made by William Henry Fox Talbot were returned to Charles after the last proofs were taken and they would like confirmation of this. They are thinking of publishing a supplement and would like to advertise this in the magazine's next issue.
4. 30 Nov from H Snowden Ward to say they are asking Mr Brooker to make a further search, and could Charles write to Mr Brooker to say he has not received the plates.
5. 2 Dec from H Snowden Ward detailing the correct address for Mr Brooker at Margaret Street.
6. 4 Dec from H Snowden Ward thanking Charles for the prints and saying they consider them extremely important and one of the strongest points in their argument on his father's behalf. They are hoping to come down to clear up several matters and will then endeavour to obtain some larger copies.
7. 1 Dec from H Snowden Ward to say he is waiting to hear about a court case at the Chancel Court that he has an interest in and had hoped to hear by now. He is lecturing in Portsmouth on 12 Dec and will be with Charles on 15 or 16 Dec; and hopefully if there is good weather the photography should not take long.
8. 5 Dec from T Brooker asking for a description of the plates, size, approximate subject and style, so that they can look through their plates to see if they have his father's plates.
9. 6 Dec from H Snowden Ward confirming arrangements for his visit to Lacock. He would like to visit Mr Story Maskelyne to gather information about William Henry Fox Talbot.
