Undated certification by the minister and inhabitants of Worfield that Thomas Welch, who desires a licence to set up a new alehouse, is not fit for the job because he is a drunkard and also Worfield does not need a new alehouse. He hopes Mr Talbot will be in town to execute the assignment. 18. 28 Mar 1778 Letter to William Davenport from W Roberts to say he will get his security when Lord Dudley takes possession of the estates he has purchased. 19. 31 Jan 1778 Letter to William Davenport from Dudley & Ward confirming he will give him a mortgage on his estate at Tipton for £8000, but he should get his £1500 from Lord Lyttleton or Mr Roberts. 20. 11 Mar 1778 Letter to William Davenport from Dudley & Ward: he has asked for the abstract of his title to the Tipton estate and will send it to Davenport's agent, Mr Stokes. States that Mr Vernon of Lincolns Inn is his attorney and has been asked to transact the mortgage. 21. 27 Mar 1778 Letter to William Davenport from Dudley & Ward: he has still not received the abstract.
