Title
Letters to Charles Henry Talbot from W Dyer & Sons.
Description
1. 28 Jun 1897 confirming they will undertake restoration of 4 pictures.
2. 6 Jul 1897 confirming the 4 pictures arrived safely. They think the portraits of Sharington Talbot and his wife would look better if they were reduced to their original size as there is too much background.
3. 22 Nov 1897 to say 3 pictures were transferred from panels to canvas and stretched on frames; asks if Charles wants the pictures to be covered in glass.
4. 25 Nov 1897 advising the glass is there to protect the varnish from blistering due to damp.
5. 3 Mar 1898 to say they did not remove the first addition of canvas because the hands were too low; the frame of Sir Gilbert Talbot's portrait is "riddled with worm" and they have done all they can to kill them.
