Description1. 4 Jan 1892 from William Gilchrist Clark in Gateshead mentioning the panic at the Gateshead Theatre in which 10 children died but this "pales into insignificance when one thinks of the hundreds of children in Gateshead and Newcastle dying of starvation every year. What can the Clergy do? Our relief is a drop in the ocean, but perhaps I will see some way of providing against the distress".
