Description | 1. 11 Jun 1901 Letter from Frederick Banks with an estimate of work to be carried out at the south end of the school room at Lacock. 2. 15 May 1901 Letter from H Snowden Ward thanking Charles for his invitation to Lacock Abbey which he cannot accept soon due to a house move. They might be able to come when they are in Oxford for the Photographic Convention; asks whether Charles can attend it. He has asked for a book of the arrangements to be sent to Charles for his information. Says he should have reported to Charles long before about the result of the offer of prints from William Henry Fox Talbot's plates, but the actual returns have been so small that he has waited a while hoping that they might be able to add to them. 3. 20 May 1901 Letter from the Photogram enclosing a cheque with a list of names and addresses. 4. 1 Jul 1901 Letter from H Snowden Ward giving details of which train he and his wife will be taking, and the time of arrival at Chippenham. 5. 3 Jul 1901 Letter from Grace Gilchrist-Clark about buying a camera and she should be able to use it well with advice from the Snowden Wards. Asks if Charles can give Rosamond information about her trains. 6. 4 Jul 1901 Letter from William Self at Whitehall Farm requesting the replacement of a bucket WC with a water WC. 7. 6 Jul 1901 Letter from Colonel Bramble to say he is going to London to attend the installation of the Duke of Connaught as Grand Master of the Freemasons. He will then go on to York and he may go to Nottingham. Encloses a note of the Warneford family from Burkes General Armoury. 8. 17 Jun 1901 Letter from H Snowden Ward to say he and his wife will be staying at the Kings Arms in Oxford during the Photographic Convention, in case Charles wants to stay there as well. Discusses their new home. 9. 20 Jul 1901 Letter from Matilda T Gilchrist-Clark about her camera and the cost of it. 10. 22 Jun 1901 Letter from Colonel Bramble enclosing a groat of 4 or 5 coinage of Henry VIII Bristol Mint with the monogram of William Sharington on the other side - he goes on to say that on gold coins which are more carefully struck it is somewhat plainer but that this one is unmistakeable. If Charles wants a specimen at Lacock he can have that one. 11. 7 Aug 1899 from the Bishop of Bristol to say he enjoyed reading some papers; talks of the Lacock chancel, asks to be placed on the committee and makes a contribution. 12. 24 Jun 1901 from the Bishop of Bristol making a further contribution to the chancel and thanking Charles and Rosamond for their kindness at showing the Clifton party around Lacock. 13. Undated note reminding Charles to claim for wayleave for a water pipe. 14. 11 Aug 1901 Letter from Colonel Bramble thanking Charles for his paper on Amesbury Church; he will be visiting Wiltshire soon and will visit the church then. He has had an exploration of the Fishponds at Mynchen Buckilow and says that they are in a wonderful state of preservation although empty. New hatches would reinstate them entirely. All the buildings he thinks are gone. 15. 2 Aug 1901 Letter from P Delme Awdry to confirm he has sent a cheque for the rents and encloses some bills for Charles' inspection. 16. 3 Aug 1901 Letter from Matilda Theresa Gilchrist-Clark letting Charles know what her plans are for the next few weeks. |
