3. 15 Sep 1869 from Rosamond in Pisa happy to hear Charles is getting about more. Asks why he did not go with his father and Ela to the sea for a week. Describes some features of the architecture of the Cathedral at Lucca and a drive from Spezia to Porto Venere.
4. 25 Jul 1869 from Rosamond in Bagni di Lucca to say she is pleased they have decided not to spend another year all together there. Advises that Charles tries some sea air, and talks of Edward Nicholls having to sell furniture to settle debts.
5. 5 May 1890 from Muriel Nicholl thanking him for a letter of condolence on the death of Harry.
6. 25 Jun 1869 from Rosamond in Bagni di Lucca, they are sorry to hear Charles is unwell. Their mother has left Florence and their parents are to go to Lake Como for a week.
7. 24 Jul, no year (before 1877) from Ela in Vevey confirming they are expecting to be in Paris by the 28th and stay for two weeks, their father has left Geneva and should be in England soon.
8. 11 Jul 1869 from Ela in Switzerland to say she has just escaped death when a wardrobe fell on her; they are moving to Lake Geneva the next day.

10. 15 Oct 1870 from J E Jackson to say he has prepared a parcel of some pictures and enclosing some scraps of information about Lacock, including a list of tenants of Montagu's land in 1812.

14. 6 Jun 1891 from Reverend William Bazeley about the Stumpe family - their son possibly married Sir Edward Bayntun's daughter.
15. 9 May 1891 from M Ashman, Bath Photographic Society to say they can reproduce manuscripts and proposes a method. Visit to Lacock announced in that week's journal.
16. 11 Feb 1891 from A Story Maskelyne with a note of the appointment of an abbess.
17. 4 Feb 1891 from A Story Maskelyne thanking him for sending notes on Lacock; he hopes to find the time to make an abstract of the Lacock deeds in the records office.
