TitleLetters to Charles Henry Talbot.
Description1. 17 Oct from Rosamond Talbot from Dumfries hoping to catch Charles on his upcoming visit to London, that Mary Maxwell was getting her house ready for letting and that the trains to London were now 40 minutes faster due to less stops.
2. 20 Oct from Ela Talbot to say she is glad that Charles was to visit London now that the fogs had cleared, asking him to lunch with Ela and Matilda at 2 o'clock (the lateness due to Matilda needing to get back from school) and suggesting that Ela accompany Charles Henry Talbot to a photographic exhibition. As the cook was suffering from rheumatic gout they would have to make do with the parlour maid for lunch who can serve up a "tidy little luncheon" or tea if preferred. Wednesday was her at home day and that she had received 4 visitors last week despite it being so early in the season, that he should be able to see Rosamond on his visit as she was returning from Scotland.
3. 1 Nov from Matilda Talbot following the trip to London and asking for bulbs following a tidying up by a workman and that Mary Maxwell had let her house for the winter months
4. 6 Nov from Rosamond Talbot asking if Charles wished his name or only his initials on the list of donations to the Working Women's House followed by discussions on the fog in London and that a bazaar for an orphanage in Dumfries had raised £150.
5. 11 Nov from Matilda Talbot confirming the arrival of a box of bulbs and asking Charles to thank Michael for wrapping them so carefully. Rosamond confirmed that forgoing help from men, as according to Grace they "…spoil everything" (a recent workman enlisted to take up the crocuses had cut down all the Michaelmas daisies and pulled up the geraniums), she and Grace (occasionally) had planted most of the bulbs and that she intended to plant the remainder the next day.
