Description1. 8 Dec 1793 to unknown recipient from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore concerning military recruitment. He is in want of Sergeants, Corps of Drum to take care of recruits after they are enlisted.
2. 3 Feb 1794 to Captain Talbot from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore asking him to send Sergeants, Corps of Drum and Fife. Enquires after Henry Wood, "your recruit" who is in the 1st Regiment Foot Guards.
3. 12 Mar 1794 to Captain Talbot at St James's Hotel, London, from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore. Cannot accompany new recruits to Chatham Barracks due to poor health, will endeavour to find someone else to accompany them once they are mustered.
4. 11 Apr 1794 to Captain Talbot from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore. Wishes to know how recruits are to be taken to headquarters as he cannot accompany them due to poor health and knows no-one he can entrust them to. Enquires after Henry Wood.
5. 19 Apr 1794 to Major General De Burgh in London from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore. He has got some recruits for "your Regiment" which he will send to headquarters when someone is ordered to conduct them. Thos Waddington can vouch for Henry Wood as they are neighbours.
6. 18 Jun 1794 to Captain Talbot from Christopher Salkheld at Bolton Le Moore. Major General De Burgh informs him he has sent two sergeants to Talbot for orders on how they can assist Salkheld in getting his recruits to headquarters. Requests money from Talbot for subsistence for the recruits.
7. 14 Dec 1793 to Paul Newman at Melksham from Jeremiah Hill at Bristol informing to say he has refused to pay an advance to Sergeant Dowe for new recruits as he suspects Dowe of a fraud. Dowe claims a recruit called Maloney had run away after receiving his bounty but one of Hill's clerks saw them in company together the preceding day and will swear to it.
8. 15 Jul 1794 to Captain Talbot from Elizabeth Wolf making arrangements for the money due 18 Jun to be paid to her.
9. 18 Jul 1794 to Captain Talbot from Elizabeth Wolf thanking him for payment.
10. 10 Oct 1795 Annuity quote from William Morgan at the Equitable Assurance Office for the life of a lady aged 22 after the decease of a gentleman aged 32.
11. [3] Apr, no year. Letter to unknown recipient at Lothians Hotel from General De Burgh informing him that he inspected 8 of his recruits and has placed 7 of them and rejected 1. Sets out arrangements for them to be delivered up by Salkheld to Sergeant Mulkern and the money to be settled.
12. Undated letter to unknown recipient from General De Burgh promising to send a sergeant as soon as one may be spared. Says he has heard nothing of the recruits from Wiltshire, if they come to the recipient he is to send them to Chatham where Captain Elwes waits to receive them.
13. Undated sheets of verse from unknown book, pages 121-124, entitled "Castle Building. An Elegy".
14. Undated remedy suggested by Mr Waine for the treatment of Colonel Talbot's "ganglion" detailing his treatment and the progress of his symptoms.
