Undated letter to Charles Henry Talbot about William Sharington explaining who he was, what various titles he had - mentioning there was a survey of lands on 25 Aug 1541 and further particulars of a sale. Various other information and dates and giving a description of the chimneys at Lacock and calling them remarkable; a possibility that the sculptor was possible an Italian; also referring to a letter from Sir William Sharington to Sir John Thynne dated Jun 25 1553 discovered at Longleat which mentions a sculptor called Chapman, an Englishman, but asks if an Italian sculptor was also employed in the design. 2. Undated note about security of the jointure for younger children's provision, mentioning settlement of the estate and a possible charge on the estate in favour of the Lady and trustees for the children. 3. 22 Jul 1845 Extract from agreement about the sale of land to the railway by William Henry Fox Talbot: various pieces of land sold for the purposes of the railway to be distinguished by being coloured red on the map. Also mentioned is the prices paid per acre for various acres of land. 4. Attached on the inside is a note to William Henry Fox Talbot from H G Awdry replying to a previous letter from William Henry Fox Talbot saying that the railway company had made arrangements with Mr Burgess and they would no longer need to use his bridge. Also mentioned is the fact that as Lord Methuen is to receive £240 per acre for all the land sold by him so William Henry Fox Talbot should receive the same sum for his land. 5. Mar 1846 Draft agreement dated between Stephen Fussell and James Fussell of Notton, Lacock and William Henry Fox Talbot of Lacock Abbey about the purchase of land for the purpose of the building of the railway by the Wilts Somerset and Weymouth Railway Company across the land and the diversion of a public road called Wick Lane. |
