Has some gossip which he will tell her on her return. 2. 26 Jun 1730 Letter from Prideaux Sutton: he has not heard from her in a long time. Their sisters are well and send their love. Mentions the corn in the vale looking good after failing for the last three years. 3. 18 May 1730 Letter from B Ottley saying that she wishes to visit but has been busy since Easter in Wales and then her husband went to London. Wishes Mrs Ivory and Miss Davenport well and begs humble service to Mr Davenport. 4. 12 Jun 1730 Letter from Katherine Talbot referring to the fact that they were once old friends and that time and distance hopes has not made her forget her. She writes of being a cousin and Lady Ivory once a friend, of the last 30 years being taken up with the care of children. She sends a ring. Talks of Lady Sussex who handsomely spoke of her daughter to the queen. There are further notes in different handwriting about Lord Sussex being at Hampton Court with Mrs Yelverton and Miss Talbot and "your" Aunt Talbot 5. 1729-1730 Letters from Barbara Longueville about family matters (5). 6. 12 Nov 1729 Letter from Mary Sutton about general family matters, hopes to visit when the floods are better; refers to her nephew and hopes he has departed to Cambridge in a better manner with his father. She refers to this "vain age" and that all "youths are peas". 7. Undated poem "In Norfolk once there was a thing" about a king that was a monster. 8. 28 Jun 1729/30 Letter from Susanna Weaver regarding engaging someone else who was on the spot, also that she couldn't accommodate anyone at the time agreed as she had her sister and nieces arriving at that time. |
