Description | 1. 24 Aug 1710 Copy letter to Messrs Raworth and Fleetwood from Messrs Joseph Chitty, Samuel Blount and Robert Stoakes regarding orders by them to load the ships of Governor Addison with rice and to defer the sale of their cargo pending further instructions. Due to the miserable condition of the ship on arrival at port they are informed that Mr Stoakes directed that part of their cargo be sold to pay for their necessities. Mr Stoakes also bought cargo for the ship, the Goulstone and confirmation is sought as to whether they would now risk paying Mr Addison etc the amount of the cargo with information provided as to potential price for the same. 2. 17 May 1710 to Messrs Raworth, Davenport and Fleetwood from Joseph Chitty, Samuel Blount concerning the trade of opium and Surat sugar and about the ships, Gulstone, Sha Allum and Recovery in regard to which orders are sought as to whether the vessels ought to be sold. 3. 5 May 1710 to Messrs Raworth, Davenport and Fleetwood from Messrs Joseph Chitty and Samuel Blount concerning the ship, the Pepper. 4. 18 Feb 1711 Copy letter to Messrs Raworth, Davenport and Fleetwood from Messrs Joseph Chitty and Samuel Blount "about Pepper affair". Refers to an invoice and bill of lading for bales of silk and to the fact that some silk had been retained for some time due to the fear that the French might be on the coast. 5. 10 Aug 1710 Copy letter to Samuel Blount from Edward Fleetwood about the ship, the Eugene. Refers to the enclosure of bills of exchange and lading which "is to make good the money due to you at Interest from the Owners of the Eugene". Refers to the trade in silk and the market being especially low for that commodity. 6. 28 Aug 1710 Copy letter to Robert Raworth and Edward Fleetwood from Samuel Blount referring to a letter received from Mr Nightingale of the King William about his having ordered him to send money to Messrs Addison and Davenport to dispose of and, "I suppose their orders will fall into your hands; therefore desire you will put them in Execution". 7. 30 Dec 1710 Copy letter to Robert Raworth and Edward Fleetwood from an unidentified individual referring to the trade in raw silk sent on the ship, the Susanna, captained by Mr Nightingale. A postscript explains that due to an alteration to the Susanna's voyage the bales of silk were placed aboard the Sherborne bill of lading and invoice instead. 8. 2 Feb 1711 Copy letter to Robert Raworth and Edward Fleetwood from the ship, the Morning Starr regarding a shipment of bales of raw silk. 9. 18 Jan 1710 Copy letter to Captain Cornwall from an unidentified individual regarding the trade in raw silk. |
