Letter to Captain Marcus Buffkins with details of sales of ships and goods. Tells him to take precautions against the French ships before he leaves Bengal; "and to be sure keep not a paper on board, that will anyway show you are concerned either with English or Dutch".
31 Dec 1712 Letter to his brother telling him of the death on 19 Dec of his wife after giving birth to a daughter "leaving me behind her the most unhappiest of men living. Her virtue, goodness, charity and everything valuable in her sex she was endowed with. The inexpressible loss makes me almost distracted. I am yet incapable of business".
