Inside is a handwritten notebook entitled "Via Intelligentia", a philosophical work on Christianity; a prescription for Mrs Ivory; and a letter dated 31 May 1718 from W Bunbury to Thomas Ivory referring to the death of his son. b. 7 Jan 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning finances. c. 7 Sep 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning finances and consulting various people about law concerning a dispute over a will. d. 14 Jan 1717 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning money sent and that Mr Bunbury is willing to assist John. e. 10 Nov 1717 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory advising on investing money which has been sent and family news. f. 7 Oct 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning asking John to apply to his cousin Talbot for money, the hope that a forthcoming trial may be avoided and the offer of help from Mr Colclough. g. 5 Nov 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning receipts that John has sent to his mother and also concerning the will of John Radford and money which should have been forwarded to John and his sisters. h. Notes and poems: reference to essays on several moral subjects in 2 parts by Jeremy Collier: dimensions of a church, Bramante under Julius II and Michael Angelo under Paul III were the principal architects. i. 15 Oct 1717 Letter from Caesar Colclough to John Ivory offering money so that "your cause may not be starved". He also offers advice on not hurrying to a hearing and mentioning a number of people who may help and that cousin Talbot may think back to any discourse with Radford. j. Copy of a sonnet by Sir Phillip Sydney, beginning "Let not old age disgrace my high desire". k. 14 Oct 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning the assistance of Mr Colclough and providing a bond also that Colclough has asked that Lord Lamb be a friend to John. l. 29 Nov 1716 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory with news that an agreement may be reached without trial and asking John to contact cousin Talbot and Mr Bunbury in London. m. 17 Apr 1717 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory asking him to discuss their business with Mr Tatton who is staying with John. It also concerns discussing with Major Bunbury whether an offer of settlement may be possible. n. 9 May 1717 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory informing John that cousin Talbot will visit him to advise in his business and discussing how a settlement amount could be apportioned. o. 14 May 1717 Letter from Thomas Ivory to John Ivory concerning being worried about the apportion of dividends offered to his wife but advising John to take the offer rather than going to law. He also tells John how useful he has been in London and asks him to return home.

Letters to Henry Davenport concerning legal matters regarding Thomas Ivory: a. 20 Feb 1719 from George Lamb asking Henry to meet him, Mr Stuart, Mr Phillips and Richard Watt in Fleet Street to discuss "matters of moment". b. 23 Jun 1718 from Richard Nunn with an invitation to attend Richard's Coffee House, Fleet Street. c. 29 Jul 1718 from George Lamb asking Henry to meet him and Mr Phillips at Richard's Coffee House. d. 5 Aug 1718 from Richard Nunn concerning his uncle Lamb's resolution to sign a document concerning "the division" (possibly the John Radford lawsuit). e. 4 Apr 1719 from Richard Watt concerning a visit from Mr Lamb and that Lamb has authority to collect from debtors all of what they owe to Mr Radford. f. 21 Apr 1719 from Richard Watts saying that Mr Lamb has drafts of a document concerning a power of attorney with Mr Ivory. g. 16 Dec 1718 from George Lamb requesting a meeting with Henry and Mr Watts concerning Mr Lewis's affairs. h. 14 Aug 1718, from Richard Watts concerning a draught of a power of attorney and reminding Henry to meet Mr Lamb concerning the sale of Mr Radford's chambers.

It was his work to get the will done. Mr Watts drew will. On money that was due from Mr Lewis. Watts angry with Ivory for asking his son to be paid. 20.
