Asks for a monthly account of changes. 4. 27 Oct 1719 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport accompanying a box of seeds and flowers. Asks what yews and holly he has. Has discussed with Barrett the expense of keeping hogs for bacon. 5. 31 Oct 1719 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport to accompany a box of roots and seeds as well as the 3 trees he asked for. Coronations will be sent in the spring. Box includes seeds for a creeper plant that grows into a pyramid and has a very beautiful flower. Sends two dogs by the same carrier and a servant to help in the house and gardens. 6. 17 Dec 1719 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport thanking Wooley for the hamper of provisions. Hopes Wooley has planted all he can as he does not intend to have a vacant space without trees. Asks if he has a variety of rose trees, will send some down if not. 7. 24 Dec 1719 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport reminding Wooley to go to Mr Jobbers and send back a list of trees Jobbers has that are not yet in the garden. Asks for an account of what flower trees are needed and he will send them in February. 8. 19 Jan 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport. Has received his letter. Hopes Mr Blakeman is only taking partridge is ways that are allowed, he preserves game for his diversion and not for the pot. Instructs them to refit an old gun from the house to rid the coppice and garden of vermin, dogs and crows. 9. 23 Jan 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport enclosing a cucumber seed. Instructs him to sow it in the hot bed. 10. 2 February 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport rebuking him for abusing the trust placed in him by being absent from his business without informing Davenport. Has not had a reply to his last letter about the guns or whether he has procured any eels as instructed. 11. 26 Feb 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport saying he will send what was promised from [Brunston] Park. Instructs him to light a fire in the rooms once a week in the winter. 12. 27 Feb 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport. Instructs him to order a servant to make fires in several rooms in the house to air the goods as well as the house. Complains their London servants aren't any good in the country and asks Wooley to find him a "sober honest fellow" to serve him instead. 13. 1 Mar 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport asking him to do other business around the estate when he can spare time from the garden, such as drawing the young pigeons and sending some to market. Intends to buy duck and goose eggs. Asks about the number of fish in the pools. 14. 26 Mar 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport instructing him to buy 200 weight of carp. Has sent a box of carnation roots by the carrier. He sent 4 wagon loads of goods the week before and received no word of their arrival. 15. 16 Apr 1720 Letter to Thomas Wooley from Henry Davenport. Says he is sorry he got no eels out of the river, as there were plenty in his time. Hopes to be there soon, he has asked Barrett to buy some chickens in readiness. Asks him to make sure he has in the gardens all sorts of "stilling herbs" or his wife will be much disappointed. 16.
