The account states that this followed normal practice for an Indian estate. She also received further parcels of diamonds which produced 9247 pagodas, together with 1500 pagodas on Bottomry which in total netted Mary Magdalene £19705. Goes on to say that Mary Magdalene took over the financial affairs of her sister Mrs Lacy as she was not rightly in her senses and invested in the South Sea Company in preference over government funds and against the advice of Henry Davenport. Mary Magdalene also sold a parcel of diamonds belonging to Mary Elizabeth Davenport for 963 pagodas; at the time of her death Mary Magdalene had 24500 shares in the South Sea Company and £617.
