TitleLetters from Peter Davenport to Henry Davenport.
Description1. 14 May 1718 lamenting his position and the difficulty he has to try and preserve his character when he has no estate to cover "the least false step". Nothing kept him there some time but notice from Captain Lister to accompany him and the major to Ireland. Only meets "Lady" occasionally in secret.
2. 10 Jan 1719 reporting that his aunt who was his worst enemy has now been reconciled and is very kind to them. Asks if Henry knows when the regiment will leave Ireland.
3. 14 Mar 1719 reporting that Mr Thorneycroft is reconciled to them and he has been to visit his daughter and expresses concern about the Spanish invasion. His staying might be of extraordinary consequence.
4. 7 Mar 1719 about the reconciliation with his father Thorneycroft, who has given him his blessing and forgiven everything. He got government's licence. Now matrimony is over. For rest of his life he will only do what Henry and the general approve of.
5. 7 Mar 1716 asking for relief for his "unfortunate family".
6. 14 Jan 1719 answering some accusations about his behaviour and requesting Henry to use his influence with the General to grant him leave as a last favour of friendship. He didn't want his wife to travel in the winter.
7. 22 Jan 1717 has been in kingdom for four months. Wronged out of Davenport estate. Asking the general's assistance in getting his brother to Windsor.
