TitleLetter from Dolly
DescriptionArthur and I have decided that he should go the House of Lords. One should not know before January 1st - we don't regard it as an honour just as a post. I shall be an assistant in these bogus solicitors. Arthur was pressed in 1924 to become a peer but refused. Always had hopes of being Foreign Secretary - did not happen - now he feels he might as well go out of politics. He offered £300 a year less to help the P.M. out - which was accepted. Arthur has been pressed by 2 peers and so has accepted. He will get the chance to do a lot more things and take Foreign Politics also. He has found it hard in the Commons to enjoy. Just wanted E to know.
