Title
Letter from Rex Whistler
Description
Asking to delay visit for a few weeks so he can stay for longer than a weekend. Very busy in London, very distressed that he has given terrible offence to the little Bismarcks who have recently visited Ashcombe. R.W. had repainted quite a lot of the not very good 'strong man' with Fig Leaf. (There was a sketching party at Ashcombe 29th May - references P Middleboe's book - all painting Cecil's bedroom as a circus). Cecil says when 'the B's' came over from Biddesden Jacky B (Frau von Bismarck) was enraged. R W supposes it was wrong but thought all the paintings would be changed. Very sorry that he upset J B as he thought her enchanting. (Ruppert von Bismarck = artist)
