Description29 Aug Details fighting - losses, wounded and missing total some eight officers and 240 NCOs and men. Officers include Dennis, Petavel, Burr, Mooney, Bissett, Richardson, Saville and the doctor.
2 Sep Had first bath for 14 days. Most of missing from 26 Aug have turned up having simply run away. Burr was cut off.
7 Sep No fighting since 26 Aug. A lot of walking. Reports terrible losses of the Suffolk Regiment. Recounts helping the bugler cross No Man's Land - jumpy when machine guns began firing! Describes fighting at Le Cateau.
11 Sep Describes an 'interesting scrape' -Turner got a flesh wound and Cornish Bowden got one in the knee and may lose his leg.
19 Sep 1914 Telegram from War Office - Captain Robert Harold Olivier killed in action - accompanied by letters from fellow soldiers following his death.
