Margery Rogers, 32, wife of the said Paul; has lived in Fittleton for 6 months, 6 months in Netheravon, 2 years in Enford. George Slater, 30, Combe in Enford, yeo, lived there for 1 year: has known Hugh & Judith for more than a year and a half: He is married but has neither a child, nor man servant nor maidservant in house; he has 300 sheep, 4 or 5 rudder cattle & 2 or 3 horse beasts. John Bromham, 40, Combe in Enford, husbandman, has lived there for 12 years: he holds 3 yardlands at the rent of £15 pa. he is a husbandman & has no other living but that which he rents. He has a wife living & 4 children but no servant in house. He has 80 sheep, 2 kine, a bullock & a horse. Anthony Cooper, Longstreet in Enford, husbandman, 40, lived there for 12 years. He is a husbandman and maintains himself & his family by his living & ’touring & wying” his stock. He has a wife living, no children and keeps maidservant. Mr John Pelling v Mr Boyce, Mr Henry Viner; Trowbridge church rates and the liability of Staverton inhabitants; refers to the chapel at Staverton being over 50 years old; in 1597, 1598 rates were raised to repair Trowbridge church, especially for casting a bell. William Smith*, 40, Trowbridge, linen draper, lived there 8 years, before at Devizes. William Bruncker, 41 weaver, born there. John Gregorie, 40, Studley in Trowbridge, husbandman, lived there 16 years, before 4 years at Trowle: has known the chapel of Staverton for these 37 years to be a chapel of ease. Charles Pullen, 60, weaver; has lived there for 30 years. He has known John Smith for 20 years & Mr Viner for 12. Henry Chivers, 56, husbandman, lived there 10 years. John Pelling*, 38, SBT, rector of Trowbridge, lived there 4 years. William Yerbury*, 55, Trowbridge, gent; he has lived there for 30 years; he was born in Batcombe, Som; he was abiding at Dorchester, Dors, for 6 or 7 years & from then came to Trowbridge where he has ever since inhabited he has used clothing [as a trade] for the most part.
