In 1603 the youth of the parish procured a meeting, feast or church ale to which many of the parishioners came forth and ‘spent theire moneys meaning and intending that the proffitt thereof should remain to the mayntenans of the parish Churche' . He was present at the ‘geeving up of the church Reckoning’. Richard Lavington & Thomas Amer were churchwardens. Amer was owed money some of which remained in the hands of John Moxam jun.
Roger Stout, husbandman, 64; has lived there from birth; has now the litigants for 40 years. The feast was called ‘the young mens Ale’. John Moxam was appointed to receive the money spent and to deliver the gain to the use of the church.

f72. 14 May 1613. Office promoted by the churchwardens of Stratford Tony v Thomas Guylbert. Responses of Guylbert to articles of Henry Clement & John Speerring, churchwardens. Repairs to the timber of the church and a new cast bell amounted to £4. He believes that the defects might have been amended with a less charge than 16d per yardland, and some timber bought was not used. He holds a cote & 6 acres, worth 20d a year. The churchwardens demanded he pay 12d for 3 cotes, whereas he offered to pay 4d.
