From 1930 a wooden ex-army hut was used for worship, serving the new residential area in the north of Salisbury. Originally part of Stratford-sub-Castle parish, a curate was assigned to the new church by 1932. In 1937 a new ecclesiastical district was formed out of parts of the parishes of Stratford-sub-Castle and Salisbury St Mark. The new church was consecrated in 1940.
