11. 12 Sep 1872 Letter from William Henry Fox Talbot to Charles Henry Talbot telling him that one of the most curious things in the British Museum is an Etruscan flint arrowhead dependent from its centre as a charm. A similar superstition prevailed in England where they were supposed to be arrows shot by fairies. One of the most perfect he had seen was picked up on the seashore of south west Scotland but in general those found are too large for fairies arrows.
